SUMMARY:Germany and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) for researchers
DESCRIPTION:\nThe vision of 5 years ago has turned into a mission. The vision started the European Open Science Cloud that has become a major driver of the transition to Open Science. Today, EOSC is fulfilling its promise and will offer researchers in Europe a virtual environment with open and seamless services for data. There will be services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data, accessible across borders and across scientific disciplines and communities. EOSC does so by federating existing data infrastructures from all over Europe. Data from large physical instruments will be as easy to access as data from a single lab at a university. \n\n\n\nEOSC is a work in progress. In fact, in order to be beneficial for researchers, EOSC depends on their direct contribution: with data, with software, with services, with tools, with courses. \n\n\n\nIn this webinar you will hear about EOSC, what EOSC can mean for you and what you can do to support EOSC, with a focus on the case of Germany. The webinar is organised by the EOSC-Pillar project, one of four regional projects that were launched specifically to bring EOSC closer to national research organisations and national data infrastructures.\n\n\n\nPlease register here.\n\n\n\nDraft Agenda\n\n\n\nPart 1EOSC perspectives5”Introduction10”Christoph Eberl – University of Freiburg: NFDI and EOSC, the European data infrastructure10”Kay Graf – Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg: Supporting the development of EOSC5”Q&APart 2EOSC-Pillar is your local gateway to access EOSC10”The EOSC Portal Demonstration of how researchers can benefit from the portal.10”Onboarded EOSC-Pillar services – Demonstration of selected use cases Marco Kulüke – Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum: Agile FAIR Data for Environment and Earth System Communities Jerome Pansanel – Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien: Containers and GPU as a Service5”Q&APart 3Views from the experts on scientific services20”Live panel discussion – Interactive Q&A with the experts on EOSC development and using EOSC Marie Czuray – University of Vienna – EOSC-Pillar Ambassadors Programme Raphael Ritz – Max Planck Computing and Data Facility – FAIR, RDM, European e-Infrastructures Birgit Gemeinholzer – NFDI4biodiversity, Networking of biological data Achim Streit – NFDI and EOSC5”Conclusions, summary and outlook\n\n\n\nQuelle: https://www.eosc-pillar.eu/events/germany-eosc-researchers?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=20220203_germany_eosc_researchers\n
